Stage set for the 2024 DTM eSports Championship
From January 2024, the DTM will once again put pedal to the virtual metal with the 2024 DTM eSports Championship. The schedule sees Europe’s top sim racers line up in six races at racetracks from the 2024 DTM season, as they battle it out for a share of the € 50,000 prize purse. A total of 32 permanent places are available in the 2024 DTM eSports Championship, with qualifying for the coveted spots beginning in January. All six races and the qualifying phase will be shown live on the DTM YouTube channel at youtube.com/DTM, with commentary available in both German and English.
Sim racing platform RaceRoom opens the leaderboard for the DTM eSports Championship on 1st January. Participants can then qualify for a place in one of two Shootout races by setting a fast lap time in the RaceRoom DTM Experience, with the original car design for the 2023 DTM season. 16 permanent starting places will be up for grabs in each of the two Shootout races, which take place on 19th January in virtual Oschersleben and on 2nd February in virtual Zandvoort. The qualifying format ensures that only the best and fastest sim racers will start at the events and compete for the title.
The field of 32 then lines up for the first race of the season at the Norisring at 19:00 on 8th March. All six races in the 2024 DTM eSports Championship take place at 19:00 on a Friday. The season-opener at the virtual street circuit in Nuremberg is followed by races at the Nürburgring, Lausitzring, Sachsenring, Red Bull Ring, and the finale at the Hockenheimring. One week after the finale, the champion of the 2024 DTM eSports Championship will be crowned at the opening round of the real DTM, which takes place from 26th to 28th April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.
