It's official! Jenson Button will contest the 2024 WEC season in the #38 Team Jota Porsche 963 alongside Phil Hanson and Oliver Rasmussen. The 43-year-old Briton is set to contest his first full-time season since retiring from Super GT at the end of 2019.

“I’m thrilled to be racing with Hertz Team Jota in the 2024 World Endurance Championship alongside my teammates Oliver Rasmussen and Phil Hanson,” Button said. “Both already have a lot of experience in endurance racing and that is key. Endurance racing is about teamwork and there is no better team than Hertz Team Jota to be taking on the big manufacturers in Hypercars.”

And for good reason: this season, the David Clark / Sam Hignett team has proved superior to the Penske Motorsport Porsche on several occasions.

I really do think they can take it to the big teams, to the manufacturers. That's kind of reminds me a season back in 2009, wich is pretty good. There is a lot do before the first race, a couple of test, and it's a competitive year so i'am looking forward to be ready for the first race.”

Speaking of 2009, Jenson is of course referring to the year of his F1 world title, when - with Brawn GP - he took the world crown from Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Toyota & Co...
