We revealed it to you at the beginning of the month, and now it's official: Callum Ilott will take part in the 2024 World Endurance Championship season in a Team Jota Porsche 963. The announcement follows his participation in testing on the British team's LMDh on 29 and 30 November at the Losail circuit in Qatar.

The 25-year-old Briton will join compatriot Will Stevens and Frenchman Norman Nato (also officially announced today) in the N°12 Porsche 963. The British driver will not be new to the sport, having finished third in the 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Am class in a Ferrari 488 GTE entered by Iron Lynx. This was also the year in which he competed brilliantly in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.

“I’m so excited to be racing a Porsche in the top-class with Hertz Team JOTA. I had a two-day test recently and the car felt great and was enjoyable to drive.    “I’ve been ultra-impressed with the team, they’re incredibly professional, and I already know that with the Porsche, we’re going to be challenging for top results next season and hopefully success at Le Mans itself", said Ilott.   “The team were incredibly impressive this season especially considering they began their season at Spa in May after limited running and then performed extremely well at Le Mans the following month.   “2024 will mark my first full year in WEC having made a one-off Le Mans appearance a couple of years ago. The calendar looks fantastic and it’ll be great racing at some of the historic European tracks again like Imola, Spa and of course Le Mans.   “It’s a super impressive series [WEC] attracting many famous car manufacturers and top-class drivers from around the World. I can’t wait for Qatar.”

It is indeed a single-seater ace who is entering the WEC. Ex-Red Bull Junior Team and Ferrari Driver Academy driver, he finished runner-up to Mick Schumacher in the FIA F2 championship in 2020.

He is also coming off two seasons in IndyCar with Juncos Racing. Initially confirmed for 2024, he was eventually sacked and had to give up his seat to Romain Grosjean.
