Just because the 2023 WEC season comes to an end on the evening of November 4 in Bahrain, that doesn't mean we shouldn't take an interest in what happens on the Sakhir circuit the following day. For good reason, the traditional WEC Rookie Test will be held there, allowing various teams to reward drivers or test them with a view to next season.

As a reminder, selected by the ACO, Josh Pierson will take the wheel of a Toyota GR010 Hybrid, Nico Varrone of the champion Oreca 07 (a test which he may cancel in order to concentrate on Cadillac) and Antoine Doquin of the Corvette C8.R which won the GTE Am.

But they won't be the only ones on track. Ferrari AF Corse will be offering two drivers from its own ranks the chance to take the wheel of the 499P : Robert Shwartzman and Lilou Wadoux.

The Russian - who now drives under an Israeli licence - shone in GT World Challenge Europe this year, taking his first steps in a car with doors and a roof. The 24-year-old has undeniable talent, having been a reserve driver for the Scuderia in F1 this year and finishing runner-up to Brazilian Felipe Drugovitch in the F2 championship in 2021.

While Shwartzman will be taking the wheel of a Hypercar for the first time, Lilou Wadoux will not. Last year, she had the privilege of testing the Toyota GR010 Hybrid on this same Bahrain circuit. And she pleasantly surprised Pascal Vasselon's troops with her approach and professionalism.

Since then, the Frenchwoman has joined the Ferrari Competizioni GT team and last April, at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, she became the first female driver to win a WEC race in any category. Once again, her performance will be closely watched...
