Fuji, Okayama and Beijing dates complete 2026 GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS calendar
The 2026 GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS calendar is now complete following confirmation of several dates and circuits.
It builds on the draft schedule originally released in late June at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa where the dates and destinations of Asia’s first three events – Sepang (Malaysia), Mandalika (Indonesia) and Shanghai (China), which returns to the calendar after a one-year hiatus – were announced.
Fuji, which hosts Rounds 7 and 8, remains on the same weekend as this year, while Okayama again stages the second SRO GT PowerTour event – also featuring the Japan Cup – at the end of August. This is no coincidence: logistically, cars and equipment can be easily moved to Suzuka for the 1000km Intercontinental GT Challenge race two weeks later.
It’s then on to the Beijing Street Circuit, which retains its mid-October slot. Next season will be the first since 2018 to feature two Chinese events. However, that also leaves no room for Chang in Thailand, which has appeared in all but one GT World Challenge Asia campaign. The venue remains under consideration for 2027.
As ever, the calendar comprises 12 one-hour races split across six circuits.
China’s nationwide College Entrance Exam prevents Shanghai’s races from being staged on Sunday 7 June. The event’s timetable will be confirmed at a later date.
Benjamin Franassovici, SRO Motorsports Group Asia Director: “Most of our 2026 calendar was publicly revealed several weeks ago but it’s good to have all of the details now confirmed so that teams can firm up their plans. Staging a second event in China is, naturally, something that our many Chinese teams and drivers have been calling for, so it makes a lot of sense to add Shanghai – somewhere all of our customers enjoy – alongside Beijing, which will debut later this year. That unfortunately means we cannot visit Chang, which has always been very welcoming and accommodating. I hope the championship can return there one day.”
SRO Asia’s other two series, the Japan Cup and SRO GT Cup, will reveal their 2026 calendars in due course.
