A global star in Bollywood cinema, Ajith Kumar has put his acting career on hold to focus on racing.

Last April, on the sidelines of the GT4 European Series meeting at Paul Ricard, Ajith Kumar spoke at length with Endurance-Info about his passion for motorsport and his desire to reach the highest possible level.

An AV Racing driver in the GT4 European Series in a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS, the Indian actor is competing in the Asian Le Mans Series at the end of this year at the wheel of a Ligier JS P325 entered by Team Virage, alongside his compatriot Narain Karthikeyan and Julien Gerbi.

“I am proud to represent India with the first Indian driver in F1 history,” said Ajith Kumar during the Asian Le Mans Series meeting in Sepang. "I hope we can have a great season. For us, this program is very positive for motorsport in India. "

Every time Ajith Kumar travels to Europe and elsewhere, he is greeted by huge crowds of fans. Whether you go to Paul Ricard, Barcelona, Zandvoort or the Nürburgring, Ajith Kumar's stand is always very busy. Last January, the stands at the Dubai 24 Hours were full to watch his return to competition. The same was true in Sepang, where the Sama-Sama Hotel was forced to put up a sign asking fans to go to the circuit to see the actor-driver.

" The goal of every driver remains the 24 Hours of Le Mans,“ continues Kumar, who is classified as Bronze by the FIA. ”Now I'm going to focus on the prototype, and the Asian Le Mans Series is the series to be in for the future." Ajith Kumar is still set to race in GT3 next season, participating in the 24 Hours of Dubai in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 fielded by Ajith Redant Racing.

The next step in Ajith Kumar's program could well be the Hypercar in the Asian Le Mans Series in the coming years. “As I said, I'm going to focus on the prototype,” he explains. “After LMP3, there will be LMP2. Then I hope to be part of the Hypercar category, which will be launched next season.”
