Algarve Pro bolsters Asian Le Mans title attack with third LMP2 for Falb, Kaiser and Meguetounif
Las Vegas-based Falb achieved a hattrick of Radical Cup USA titles and a brace of IMSA Prototype Lights Masters Championships before setting his sights on the ELMS in 2016.
Three years in the burgeoning LMP3 division, which yielded a victory and five podiums at the Michelin Le Mans Cup ‘Road to Le Mans’ and a championship title in 2017, served as a springboard into LMP2.
He joined Algarve Pro in the ELMS and for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, effectively winning LMP2 Pro-Am in the French endurance classic, and by the third year of their partnership they had locked in P3 in the Asian Le Mans Series and landed an ELMS LMP2 Pro-Am Championship.
With 55 LMP2 races across the globe to his credit, Falb is set to rekindle his success with APR after three seasons apart, and he said: “I raced with Algarve Pro for four years with many tremendous successes along with tough challenges. Stewart and Sam have continued to work hard to build the best race team in the paddock and I’m super excited to be back with the entire team.
“The Asian Le Mans Series is always a lot of fun and this year’s competition is better than ever. We have all the tools and talent to fight for the championship and that is the target. I’m teamed with someone who we know to be quick and consistent in Matthias (Kaiser) and a super-fast F2 convert in Sami (Meguetounif), and we’re ready to hit the ground running and push for everything.”
Kaiser discovered an affinity with Le Mans Prototypes while racing LMP3 machinery in the Ultimate Cup and VdeV, but a determination to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans eventually drove him into Automobile Club de l’Ouest-rules racing.
In 2024, an intensifying desire to win spurred the Liechtenstein driver to join the Champion Algarve Pro Racing team’s ELMS ranks and, having increased his podiums tally over the past two years, he has expanded the partnership to include a nostalgic Asian Le Mans campaign that sparks memories of when his LMP2 love affair first began.
“The Asian Le Mans Series is a great championship that visits some fantastic tracks in cool countries and I’m super happy to be back,” said Kaiser. “It’s a great opportunity to race at a time of year when you don’t usually get much driving in, and I’m looking forward to returning to Dubai and Abu Dhabi where I fell in love with LMP2.
“The series has grown a lot and it’s great to see. There are some really strong line-ups and we will be among the best of them with our mix of experience and raw pace, as John (Falb) is fast and I saw Sami (Meguetounif) fly during testing in Portimao. It won’t be easy to win, but we compete because it’s challenging. We are certainly going to put up a fight.”
A fresh face in sportscar racing paddocks, Meguetounif claimed multiple karting titles in his native France before graduating to single-seaters in 2020, working his way up from F4 to F2 via Formula Regional and FIA F3, where he finished eighth in the championship.
A truncated F2 season has only increased the Frenchman’s determination to compete, and he is now set to launch a brand new chapter in endurance sportscar racing with a season in the Asian Le Mans Series.
“I’m really happy to be jumping back into a car after my Formula 2 season ended earlier than planned,” said Meguetounif. “It has been a frustrating year, so having this opportunity to join Algarve Pro Racing in the 2025-26 Asian Le Mans Series is something I’m very excited about.
“Endurance racing is completely new to me and, while I have driven the ORECA 07-Gibson twice to date, I know I still have a lot to discover, which is exciting in itself. Algarve Pro is a great team that can teach me a lot. I know my speed and that I can perform at a high level, testing has gone well and I can’t wait to go racing at Sepang.”
