Jensen arrived at Algarve Pro for the 2024-25 ALMS as a European Le Mans Series (ELMS) LMP3 Champion and continued his strong run of form by clinching the LMP2 Teams and Drivers Trophies alongside teammates Malthe Jakobsen and Valerio Rinicella.
Algarve Pro’s fifth Asian title was secured in a convincing manner, with four race victories and three podium finishes shared between the title-winning #25 crew and the less fortunate #20 trio.
These triumphs inspire confidence for the new season, about which Jensen said: “I am looking forward to returning to the Asian Le Mans Series with Algarve Pro Racing. The team has a great track record as a five-time Champion and I have also had a lot of success in the series.
“I have had the pleasure of testing with Enzo (Trulli) and I’m certain he will perform brilliantly, and Tom (Dillmann) is a very fast and experienced driver who has achieved many great results. It is going to be tough with a total of 16 entries in LMP2, but we will give it our best.”
For Trulli – the son of ex-Formula 1 driver and Monaco Grand Prix winner, Jarno – four seasons in karts preceded a single-seater career that took him across Europe, the Middle East and on to Japan.
The 2021 Formula 4 United Arab Emirates Champion pivoted to sportscar racing with an Italian GT campaign that yielded podiums, before merging Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and a comprehensive LMP2 test programme with Algarve Pro in 2025.
During his innumerable laps of every ELMS circuit, 20-year-old Trulli demonstrated raw pace and completed a series of representative race simulations, primarily designed to hone his traffic and tyre management in readiness for his LMP2 debut.
Well prepared but aware he still has much to learn, Trulli said: “I have been working with Algarve Pro Racing for a year now, so I know them well. I participated in the ELMS Rookie Test and have had plenty of laps at a wide array of circuits, trying race sims with a focus on traffic and tyre-management over a double stint, as I have only ever experienced sprint weekends.
“The aim is definitely to fight for the Asian Le Mans Series title, as the speed is there, we have a good line-up and a lot of support from the team. It won’t be easy because the entry is impressive, but I’m up for the challenge and will learn a lot from my experienced teammates.”
LMP2 rookie Trulli’s rate of progress will undoubtedly be aided by his vastly experienced teammate Dillmann, who has LMP2 class wins in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Twelve Hours of Sebring to his name, as well as several more victories across the ELMS, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Michelin Le Mans Cup.
The 36-year-old from Mulhouse, France – a long-serving simulator and reserve driver for the Jaguar TCS Racing FIA Formula E team – said: “I’m excited to be teaming up with Michael (Jensen), Enzo (Trulli) and Algarve Pro Racing for the 2025-26 Asian Le Mans Series.
“The team has been super successful over its many years in Asia, so there’s every reason to expect us to be competitive. I will give my best as always, and we’ll see what we can achieve together.”
