Pole for the Eastalent Audi, the three top title contenders in the top 3 !

The two qualifying sessions for the GT Open 500 that will take place tomorrow at Monza and decide the titles left a perfect scenario: the three top contenders for the overall crown top the grid of tomorrow’s 500-km single race!

 

As known, the grid for the endurance race (expected to last 2 hours 55 minutes + lap maximum) is elaborated combining the best time in the two qualifying sessions, which each driver contesting one of the sessions.

 

The exercise allowed the Eastalent Racing Audi R8 LMS of reigning champions Simon Reicher and Christopher Haase to post an average time of 1.43.834, with Reicher second-afstest in session 1 and Haase topping session 2 (in 1.43.770). “The team gave us a perfect car, but this is only step 1” commented the Austrian-German duo, who are currently second in the standings but could become tomorrow the first pair in the series’ history to conque two titles in a row.

 

Next to them on the grid they will have the Motopark Mercedes of championship leader Levente Révész and of Max Götz, 0s268 behind the pole-sitters. The Hungarian has a 5-point advantage in the standings.

 

In row 2, the third contenders (11 points back), Tommaso Mosca and Carl Bennett in the AF Ferrari Corse, were third-fastest (+0s310), with the Italian toopping the first qualifying session (1.43.791). Along them the Greystone GT McLaren of Jayden Kell-Josh Rattacan (+0s310).

 

In row 3, the Elite Motorsport Ferrari of Tom Emson-Tom Lebbon (+0s318), who still have a slim theoretical chance to win the title and the top Pro-Am car, the GetSpeed Mercedes of class leaders Steve Jans-Aaron Walker (+0s605), who have a mere one point advantage in the standings on the SPS Mercdes of Valentin Pierburg-Dominik Baumann, eighth on the grid.

 

In Am, the pole was for the Garage 59 McLaren of Mark Sansom and Marco Pulcini, ahead of class leaders Gino Forgione-Michele Rugolo (AF Corse Ferrari).
