Andriolo and Owega driving for HRT Ford Performance in GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup
In the 2023 season, the Haupt Racing Team celebrated the championship in the SILVER Cup of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint classification. Now the team from Drees is competing in the PRO classification of this competitive series with a Ford Mustang GT3. Romain Andriolo and Jusuf Owega will be behind the wheel of the American GT3 car in the ten races.
18-year-old Andriolo is contesting all the GT World Challenge Europe races for HRT Ford Performance in the 2025 season. Andriolo was already in the cockpit of the Ford Mustang GT3 at the season-opener of the Endurance Cup at the Circuit Paul Ricard. For the Frenchman, who has a background in single-seater racing, this was his second outing for HRT in a GT3 car after the 24H Dubai. Andriolo will also have the opportunity to establish himself in the Sprint Cup in a GT3 environment.
Jusuf Owega is already an experienced GT3 driver. The 23-year-old has already competed in the DTM, the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and the GT World Challenge Europe. Last season, the Cologne-born driver and his team-mates drove for HRT to third place overall in the endurance classification of the GOLD Cup and a class podium at the 24 Hours of Spa.
The powerful driver duo will compete together in the five events of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup, which will be held at legendary race tracks such as Brands Hatch Circuit and Circuit Zandvoort. There will be two races per race weekend. Each race will last 60 minutes, with a mandatory pit stop for a driver change. The new Sprint Cup season kicks off at the Brands Hatch Circuit in the UK during the first weekend in May.
Ulrich Fritz, Chief Executive Officer, Haupt Racing Team: “The GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup is a very demanding competition. Even the smallest of mistakes has a huge impact due to the short race distance. However, the series also offers a very good opportunity to further develop our drivers and the Ford Mustang GT3 in a challenging environment. The competition will be very strong, but our focus at the moment is on establishing ourselves with the Ford Mustang GT3 and completing as many laps as possible. If we do a good job, we will certainly be able to achieve some good results during the season.”
Romain Andriolo, #64 HRT Ford Performance: “I am extremely happy to have completed a full program with HRT, now with the addition of the Sprint Cup alongside the Endurance Cup. The 2025 season marks my first season in GT, and having a double program offers a unique opportunity for me to work hard, learn, and progress. HRT is the perfect team for me to achieve great results, providing the ideal environment for a young driver to deliver.”
Jusuf Owega, #64 HRT Ford Performance: “I'm looking forward to competing in the Sprint Cup for a full season again after five years. I'm very grateful for Ford's trust in me to be part of this program. The season opener at Paul Ricard has already shown good developments, which also give me a great motivation for the sprint season.”
