Brad Schumacher and Broc Feeney have opened up their 2025 GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS account in style after claiming top honours in an exhilarating second race at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Behind the wheel of the Kelso Electrical/Team MPC Audi R8 LMS EVO II, the pair both produced stellar stints behind the wheel and capitalised on plenty of drama surrounding them to take the memorable victory.

Finishing behind the Audi was the Volante Rosso Motorsport Aston Martin AMR GT3 of Liam Talbot and Declan Fraser, while Race 1 winners Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte finishing third their Arise Racing GT Ferrari 296 GT3 - making it three different manufacturers on the podium.

Taking out the Am Cup victory was Renee Gracie in the Audi R8 LMS EVO II after an impressive run from the OnlyFans/Team MPC driver saw her cross the line more than 30 seconds ahead of Ben Schoots and Shane Woodman.

When it came to the race itself, there was no shortage of drama throughout the one-hour affair, which started right from the get-go as Alex Peroni and Team BRM were slapped with a five-second penalty for getting the jump on polesitter Dorian Boccolacci off the rolling start.

With the penalty hanging over his head, Peroni was a man on a mission during the opening stint of the race as he drove the wheels off the Audi R8 LMS EVO II he shares with Mark Rosser in an attempt to build a healthy lead.

Boccolacci and the EMA Motorsport Porsche 992 GT3R stayed in close proximity of the Tasmanian during the opening laps, as the two broke away from the rest of the field to build a big gap, while Evans and Jayden Ojeda battled hard behind them, making contact multiple times.

Recreating their thrilling duel from yesterday’s race, Evans did his best to keep Ojeda at bay but the Realta/Tigani Motorsport driver managed to finally get the job done, manoeuvring the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO past Evans on lap 19.

Behind them, Declan Fraser was proving one of the shining lights, having climbed his way from the back of the grid to just outside the top 10.

When it came to the compulsory pit stops, Peroni and Boccolacci were well ahead of the rest of the field when they handed their respective cars to their teammates in Mark Rosser and Shane Smollen.

Unfortunately for both Rosser and Smollen, the pitstops proved highly disastrous as the former was eventually handed a drive-through penalty for a pit stop breach, while EMA Motorsport had the Porsche parked up for an eternity, with Smollen rejoining the field much further down the order.

The drama didn’t stop there for either driver as a spin for Smollen eight minutes from the end saw him suffer a puncture, while Rosser spun out in the dying stages to tumble down the order as the rain began to wreak havoc on the field.

Realta/Tigani Motorsport’s Paul Lucchitti was another driver to endure drama as he found himself facing the wrong way on two occasions - the first of which followed contact with Tim Miles and the Dayle ITM/Team MPC Audi R8 LMS EVO II, while the second occurred after he spun on his own accord shortly after.

While some drivers had a forgettable day behind the wheel – the stars of the show were undoubtedly Fraser and Talbot, who started from the back and ended up on the podium behind the winners – the latter charging his way through the field during his stint to eventually fall just short of Schumacher.

In the Am Cup, Gracie managed to overcome the Black Wolf Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO of Woodman and Schoots after an entertaining battle – the Queenslander proving too good for yesterday’s winner to pick up her first victory of the season.

Rounding out the class podium was Supabarn Supermarkets/Tigani’s Theo and James Koundouris in the Audi R8 LMS EVO II.

Following an entertaining start to the season, GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS’ next round will be at Sydney Motorsport Park on May 2–4.
