QUALIFYING : Duqueine Take ELMS Pole in Drama Filled Barcelona Qualifying

A final rush of cars in the final minutes of the LMP2 qualifying session saw Reshad De Gerus take the ELMS pole for the Duqueine with the French driver posting a 1m27.664 with just 16 seconds left on the clock.

The no9 Iron Lynx-Proton of Matteo Cairoli had been holding the top spot for most of the session with challenges coming from the no43 Inter Europol Competition of Tom Dillmann, the no48 VDS Panis Racing of Charles Milesi and Theo Pourchaire in the no25 Algarve Pro Racing.

 

At the half way point of the session all cars pitted for fresh Goodyears and as the clock counted down there were several changes for the provisional pole position with Cairoli holding the top spot with a 1m27.830.

 

However De Gerus timed his run perfectly to cross the line 0.219s faster than his Italian rival, with Dillmann in third place with a 1m28.117 lap, just 0.197s ahead of Tom Blomqvist in the no37 CLX-Pure Rxcing Oreca in 4thplace.The no18 IDEC Sport Oreca will start tomorrow’s 4 Hours of Barcelona on the third row alongside the VDS Panis Racing Oreca.

 

LMP2 Pro/Am: Normal service Resumes as Roda Scores Another Pole Position for Proton Competition

 

After taking five of the six class poles in 2024, Giorgio Roda resumed his impressive qualifying performance taking the first championship point of the season in Barcelona.The Italian set the early pace with a 1m31.721 ahead of Rodrigo Sales in the no29 TDS Racing and the no99 AO by TF of PJ Hyett.

 

The session was interrupted with 6m05s on the clock when the no3 DKR Engineering Oreca went off into the barriers at T7 damaging the rear of the car and the session was red flagged to recover the car and also the no29 TDS Racing Oreca, which had gone off at T4 in an unrelated incident.

 

The session resumed for the remaining cars as the no3 Oreca was not allowed to restart for causing the red flag.

 

Roda immediately went quicker, reducing the pole position time to 1m31.110 just before the chequered flag.Hyett and Sales were pushing hard with the no29 TDS Racing Oreca going second with a 1m31.923 only for the no99 AO by TF Oreca to take the chequered flag in 1m31.349 to start the race alongside the no77 Proton Competition Oreca and push TDS onto the second row.

 

LMP3: Closmenil Claims Pole for CLX Motorsport

 

The no17 CLX Motorsport Ligier JS P325-Toyota finished the 15-minute qualifying session at the head of the 10 car LMP3 entry with Adrien Closmenil posting a 1m36.188 at the halfway point of the session which was never bettered.

 

The pole position was the fourth 4 Hours of Barcelona pole in a row for the Swiss team.

 

Rik Koen put the no8 Team Virage Ligier on the front row of the LMP3 grid with a 1m36.425, just 0.015s ahead of the no11 Eurointernational Ligier driven by Ian Aguilera.

 

The whole 10 car grid was covered by just 0.974s, with the no4 DKR Engineering Ginetta finishing the session in 10thspot on a 1m37.162.

 

LMGT3: Pole for Mercedes-AMG on ELMS Debut

 

The first pole position of the 2025 season was claimed by reigning LMGT3 champions Iron Lynx with Martin Berry posting a 1m42.257 lap to give Mercedes-AMG their first pole position in the ELMS on the manufacturers debut.

 

Celia Martin will start the 4 Hours of Barcelona on the front row of the LMGT3 grid in the no85 Iron Dames Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3.The French driver put in two early fast laps finishing up just 0.187s off pole with a 1m42.444.

 

The second row of the grid will be filled by the no59 Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin Vantage driven by Clement Mateu, with the no74 Kessel Racing Ferrari of Andrew Gilbert moving up to 4thon the last lap.

 

The 4 Hours of Barcelona is due to start at 12h00.
