Lionspeed GP welcomes Feller, Rindone for Endurance Cup season
Last year, the team joined GTWC Europe for the first time as part of its debut season operating as an independent GT racing team. Competing in the Bronze Cup, the team enjoyed a promising first year, peaking with a maiden podium finish in the three-hour Endurance Cup race at the Nürburgring in July.
For its second season in the series, the team will remain in Bronze Cup. Team principal – Patrick Kolb shares the No. 80 Porsche 911 GT3 R with Gabriel Rindone (UAE) as well as a team newcomer in the form of Porsche-contracted driver Ricardo Feller (CHE).
At only 24 years old, Feller has rapidly developed into one of the most highly-rated and decorated GT3 drivers currently active. During his tenure as an Audi Sport factory driver, he won last year’s Nürburgring 24 overall, a race in which Lionspeed captured the SP9 Pro-Am victory. He also scored multiple DTM race wins, won the GTWC Europe Sprint Cup title in 2023 and was a serious contender for the overall drivers’ title in last year’s Endurance Cup. His resume also includes an ADAC GT Masters title and a Silver Cup crown in GTWC Europe, both of which he achieved in 2021.
After leaving Audi, Feller signed with Porsche to become an official driver with the Stuttgart brand and will join Lionspeed for the full, five-round Endurance Cup schedule. With his speed, experience and proven track record, the Swiss racer promises to be a valuable addition to the team.
“I’m looking forward to my first program with Porsche this year with Lionspeed in GTWC Europe Endurance Cup, sharing the car with Patrick and Gabriel in Bronze Cup,” said Feller. “I think we will have a great atmosphere in the team and hopefully have a good time on and off track. I’m really thankful to Lionspeed for having me. It’s my first time in Bronze Cup, so for sure it’s a new challenge for me but it’s perfect for me to build up my experience with the Porsche 911 GT3 R. Hopefully, we will have a great season.”
His Bronze-rated co-driver Rindone, meanwhile, is no stranger to Lionspeed, having made his debut with the team last year during the end-of-season Lenovo Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi. Since then, he enjoyed a successful run in the Asian Le Mans Series, securing two podium finishes in the hotly contested GT class. Last year, the 52-year-old competed against Lionspeed in GTWC Europe’s Bronze Cup class, scoring a podium at the grueling CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.
“Finally the start of the season of the long awaited GTWC, this time in a Porsche, back to the roots, with Lionspeed and some amazing people, this without forgetting Ricardo and Patrick who will bring raw speed and experience! Can’t wait for the start and to show what we are capable of!” – Gabriel Rindone ahead of his debut season with Lionspeed.
In addition to its ongoing efforts in the Endurance Cup, Lionspeed will broaden the scope of its involvement in GTWC Europe by entering the Sprint Cup for the first time. The lineup for that effort will be announced shortly.
