Following his achievements in the various Porsche one-make series and the FIA World Endurance Championship, with the class win in the Le Mans 24 Hours as the undisputed highlight, Dutch driver Morris Schuring, who celebrated his 20th birthday on 20 February, received an official driver contract from Porsche.

“This really is a dream come true, something that was my goal from the very beginning,” says Schuring with due pride. “The fact that I can now officially race for and on behalf of Porsche means a lot to me!”

As a ‘Porsche Contracted Driver’, Schuring follows in the footsteps of two-time Le Mans winner Gijs van Lennep, who had a Porsche contract from 1971 to 1976, and Jeroen Bleekemolen, who drove for Porsche for six months during the covid pandemic in 2020.

Despite his young age, Morris Schuring has already managed to attract a lot of attention in recent years with good performances in various motorsport competitions. Porsche has been a continuous factor throughout his activities. He started in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, where he scored his first motor racing victories at the age of 15, and quickly progressed to international level in the German Porsche Carrera Cup and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

He also won races in these series, with his victory in the Supercup in front of his home crowd in the support race of the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Zandvoort in 2023 being a special moment. Last year, Morris Schuring successfully made the transition to endurance racing. In the LMGT3 category of the FIA World Endurance Championship, he scored two wins with the Porsche 911 GT3 R of the Manthey-EMA team, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Together with his teammates, Schuring became runner-up in the end-of-season standings. Schuring also finished second in his first race with a Porsche 911 GT3 R on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

His achievements did not go unnoticed at Porsche Motorsport, which ultimately led to him being offered an official contract by the renowned sports car manufacturer as the youngest Dutch driver to date. As a ‘Porsche Contracted Driver’, he can be assigned as a driver in consultation with Porsche Motorsport to support Porsche customer teams all over the world. The races on Schuring’s programme for this year will be announced shortly.

Schuring himself is over the moon about the opportunity offered to him by Porsche: “Ever since I was a young boy it has been my dream to be allowed to race for Porsche, ever since my father raced on the Nordschleife in a Porsche. When I started karting, it was also my aim to be able to drive Porsches myself. That was also the main reason why I did not choose single seaters, but immediately went down the road of GTs and Porsche one-make series. I became the youngest race winner in both the German Carrera Cup and the Supercup and aimed to be selected for the ‘shoot-out’ for the position of Porsche Motorsport Junior Driver. I succeeded in 2023 on behalf of the German cup. I had good credentials, but was ultimately not chosen, which was a big disappointment. Thankfully, there was an alternative in the FIA WEC with Manthey. Of course, it is fantastic that the connections with Porsche have now led to an official contract! It is a great honour to follow in the footsteps of someone like Gijs van Lennep. I will do everything in my power to live up to the confidence Porsche has placed in me.”
