With Logan Sargeant, IDEC Sport has a driver fresh out of Formula 1 for the team's tenth anniversary year. We should say 'had' rather than 'has'.

IDEC Sport is currently testing in Barcelona in preparation for the European Le Mans Series season, where Mathys Jaubert and Jamie Chadwick, two of the three regulars on the LMP2 program, are present in an Oreca 07 bearing GMR (Genesis Magma Racing) stickers. On the other hand, there's no trace of Logan Sargeant on the Catalan circuit, given that the 2025 season kicks off there on April 6.

Does this mean his absence from Spain goes even further? According to our information, the former Williams F1 driver won't be taking part in this year's endurance racing adventure in the LMP2 class, although he was more than likely to join the Genesis Magma Racing Hypercar program in 2026, where Pipo Derani and André Lotterer have already been confirmed.

What about Logan Sargeant's future? The 24-year-old American driver tested an IndyCar single-seater with Meyer Shank Racing at the end of 2024, but the 2025 line-up has been finalized less than two weeks before the season kicks off in St Petersburg. What about a return to Formula 1 via Cadillac, which would welcome the presence of an American driver in its program ? Colton Herta, however, seems to be the obvious choice. An end of his career ? At the age of 24, it's a bit early, but others have done it long before him, and this third hypothesis is the one most often discussed.

Should the news become official shortly, IDEC Sport will be on the hunt for another top driver to put in its #18 Oreca 07, with the backing of Genesis Magma Racing. This LMP2 program is intended as a training ground for the Korean troops prior to a commitment to the top class in 2026.
