BDR Grupo Prom Racing joins the GT Open with two Mercedes
One of the new teams making its debut in the International GT Open this season is BDR Grupo Prom Racing, which will enter two Mercedes AMG. The outfit has a double Belgian and Mexican soul, as it combines Bonduel Compétition, the well-known team of the Bonduel family based in Baisy-Thy, Belgium, and Grupo Prom, the marketing group of Mexican entrepreneur Alfredo Hernández Ortega.
Alfredo Hernández (58) is also an accomplished sportsman, having built an equestrian top international career before embracing motor racing and contesting the Lamborghini SuperTrofeo in recent years. He will be driving solo in the Am class in the 2025 GT Open.
The other Mercedes will be entered in Pro-Am, for Amaury Bonduel (25) who joins as the reigning Lambo Super Trofeo Europe champion and a winner of the 2023 World Finals, and Mexico’s Luis Michael Dörrbecker (31), who raced single-seaters in Europe in the past (including three Euroformula Open events in 2015) and is active in GT3 racing and NASCAR México, where he was a champion in 2018.
Amaury Bonduel, who also serves as team principal, stated: “We are pleased with the progress made by BDR Grupo Prom Racing, which is an ambitious long-term project, and are very happy to enter the GT Open, a very competitive series, which is perfect to test ourselves in the new GT3 challenge we are embracing.”
