Walkenhorst Motorsport is planning extensive GT3 programme in 2025
Walkenhorst Motorsport will start their second season with the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in 2025. After gaining a wealth of experience with the British sports car in 2024 and narrowly missing out on a podium finish at the Spa 24 Hours – the world's biggest GT3 race – the team from Melle is aiming to fight for top results on a consistent basis this year.
To prepare professionally for the season, the team from Lower Saxony will be completing extensive test drives on 13 and 14 February and again on 17 and 18 February at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain. Walkenhorst Motorsport will be represented on site with the full team strength in order to ensure the best possible set-up for customers and interested parties.
'Of course, our confirmed drivers will be used for the test drives. But interested drivers who want to get to know us first are also warmly invited to the test! We welcome enquiries from anyone interested in testing our Aston Martin,’ says Jörg Breuer, Managing Director Walkenhorst Motorsport.
Walkenhorst Motorsport's GT3 programme in 2025 will be broadly comparable to the previous year. The Aston Martin team is currently planning an extensive programme in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup and will also compete on the Nordschleife. The 2025 GT3 programme will be rounded off with a start in the ADAC GT Masters or in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup.
As in the previous year, Walkenhorst Motorsport will compete in the Pro class of the Endurance Cup of the popular SRO series with a Vantage GT3. The team will be fighting for overall victory with lightning-fast Aston Martin factory drivers. The use of a car in the Silver Cup and Bronze Cup is also an integral part of the GTWC Endurance planning.
Last year, the ADAC repositioned the long-standing ADAC GT Masters as a series for up-and-coming drivers and ambitious gentleman drivers. Walkenhorst Motorsport competed in the series for the first time and managed to achieve podium finishes and a victory in the Pro-Am class. The basic plan is to continue the programme in the ADAC GT Masters.
‘However, we are currently also in productive discussions about a programme in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup, so it is possible that we will contest all ten race weekends. Ultimately, the market will decide which series we will actually enter,’ adds Niclas Königbauer.
The GT3 programme of the team from the Osnabrück district will be rounded off by the Nordschleife programme. The Walkenhorst team will be entering up to three Aston Martin Vantage GT3s in the 24-hour race in June and the corresponding preparation races. The Pro and Am vehicles have already been finalised. The team is currently working on the Pro-Am line-up and holding productive talks with potential drivers.
Managing Director Niclas Königbauer concludes: ‘Our GT3 programme on the Nordschleife is currently planned up to and including the 24-hour race. We will decide on our further programme at a later date, taking into account availability, overlaps and customer interest.’
Walkenhorst Motorsport will announce the exact driver line-ups for the individual racing series at a later date.
