Hofor Racing celebrates return to the Dubai 24 Hours
Hofor Racing is returning to the Dubai 24 Hours one year later than planned. After the team had to cancel their participation last year due to the short-term postponement, the Swiss team will line up with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in this years edition. This will be the team's first race since 2019 at the Dubai Autodrome. The 2025 edition of the event is also the 20th running of the race, which is increasingly becoming a traditional season opener in international endurance racing.
The team competing under the Swiss flag and headquartered in Saarbrücken is entering a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the race, which has grown in popularity in recent years. The car is driven by the three regular drivers Michael Kroll, Chantal Prinz and Alexander Prinz, who is considered one of the fastest bronze drivers in the 24H Series field. Former ADAC GT Masters driver Carsten Tilke and Timo Rumpfkeil, principal of Team Motopark, complete the quintet of Hofor Racing drivers at the 24h Dubai.
With its strong and experienced driver line-up, Hofor Racing is aiming for a top result in the GT3 Am class at the race in Dubai. The entire team knows that the most important thing at the season opener of the 24-hour series is to maintain a consistent and error-free driving style and team performance. Hofor Racing reorganised the team in the 24H Series before the Misano 12 Hours in July 2024 and has since shown very competitive performances, which also gives the entire team a lot of confidence for the upcoming race in Dubai.
‘We are really looking forward to the Dubai 24 Hours,’ says regular driver Alexander Prinz, who has often outperformed drivers ranked higher than him. ’We are returning to the race a year later than originally planned, but it is one of the highlights of the year for us. In Dubai, a number of strong teams will be competing in the GT3 Am class, but we are confident that our experience and good team performance will enable us to fight for a top result in the class. We are also very pleased that Timo Rumpfkeil will be supporting us as a driver. His skills as a driver were recently on display in the International GT Open, and we also believe that his experience will be a great help to us!’
Hofor Racing will participate in all races of the 24H Series this year. Just one week after the 24h Dubai, the series continues with the 6h Abu Dhabi. The European part of the race series starts in mid-March with the 12 Hours of Mugello. From the race in Tuscany, Hofor Racing will then rely on a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, with which the team has already completed a promising test in Barcelona and will test again in February. Hofor Racing will use the races in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to evaluate the best possible driver line-up for the races in Europe. Hofor Racing's goal is clear: the team wants to win the GT3 Am class title, and also achieve some top results in the overall standings.
The Dubai 24 Hours takes place from 10 to 12 January – the race at the Dubai Autodrome starts at 10:00 am German time on 11 January. Fans worldwide can watch the race on YouTube livestream. The event will be officially opened with a parade at the First Avenue Mall on 8 January, where fans can get a close look at the spectacular GT cars and get autographs from the drivers. There will also be extensive testing on the track throughout the week leading up to the anniversary edition of the Dubai 24 Hours.
