Heart of Racing by SPS back at the Mount Panorama Circuit
The twelve-hour race on the Mount Panorama Circuit is the traditional season opener of the Intercontinental GT Challenge and once again one of the highlights of the global racing calendar. The layout over mostly public roads and the uphill and downhill sections make this circuit unique both in Australia and worldwide.
After finishing second in the Pro-Am category in 2024, the joint venture between Heart of Racing and SPS automotive performance will once again launch an attack on class victory in the upcoming edition of the Bathurst 12 Hour, relying on the driver trio of Ian James, Ross Gunn and Zacharie Robichon.
James and Gunn already drove the #27 Mercedes-AMG GT3 on its debut in 2024 and fought their way to second place in their class in a thrilling final phase. At this year's edition of this high-class race, they will be supported by Canadian Zacharie Robichon, who will be making his debut in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the 24H Dubai.
Ian James, Ross Gunn and Zacharie Robichon are all extremely experienced drivers and can draw on their experience from countless appearances in the FIA WEC, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and other prestigious racing series on the demanding circuit at Mount Panorama.
Through its motorsport programs, Heart of Racing continuously raises funds for pediatric research. One of the largest institutions of its kind, Seattle Children's Hospital in the United States, is one of the beneficiaries of this charitable project. Through the joint venture with Heart of Racing, SPS automotive performance can also be part of this project, which the team from Obersulm is happy to support.
At the Meguiar's Bathurst 12 Hour, the lights traditionally go green at 5:45 a.m. local time on Sunday. Especially during sunrise, the Mount Panorama Circuit provides impressive images that make this event unmistakable.
Stephan Sohn, team principal SPS automotive performance: “We are delighted to be back at Bathurst. After last year's class podium, we are highly motivated to achieve another good result. It will be another big challenge for the team. But after our debut in 2024, we can adapt better to the special circumstances and enter this great event with optimism.”
