Algarve Pro sets sights on Asian Le Mans LMP2 Pro-Am glory with Lentoudis, Quinn and Caldwell
Following a successful European campaign, Algarve Pro Racing has extended its partnerships with Kriton Lentoudis, Alex Quinn and Olli Caldwell, who will share the #20 ORECA 07-Gibson LMP2 prototype in the 2024-25 Asian Le Mans Series.
Algarve Pro took LMP2 rookie Lentoudis to his first ever European Le Mans Series (ELMS) Pro-Am win with teammates Quinn and Richard Bradley in the 4 Hours of Imola (5-7 July).
It was a momentous victory, as Lentoudis became the first Greek driver to stand on the top step of an ELMS podium, but it also marked out Algarve Pro’s #20 crew as serious Pro-Am title contenders.
Runner-up finishes in Mugello (27-29 September) and the Portimao finale (17-19 October) were major shots in the arm in a championship battle that went down to the very last lap of the season, but the title was snatched from Algarve Pro’s grasp in a tense climax to a topsy-turvy race on the team’s home soil.
Nevertheless, the campaign was deemed a great success due to Lentoudis’s impressive rate of progress with support and guidance from Algarve Pro, Quinn and Bradley.
The objective is to build on the foundations laid in Europe with a push for LMP2 Pro-Am glory in the forthcoming Asian Le Mans season, which encompasses six four-hour races at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit, the Dubai Autodrome and Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit.
“I’m really looking forward to working together with the entire Algarve Pro Racing team out in Asia, and to be teaming up with Kriton (Lentoudis) and Olli (Caldwell) will be special,” said Quinn. “We all have good speed, so we only have one aim, and that is to win the 2024-25 Asian Le Mans Series.”
Caldwell said: “I’m super excited to be racing in the 2024-25 Asian Le Mans Series, continuing my partnership with Algarve Pro Racing. Kriton (Lentoudis) and Alex (Quinn) had great success in this year’s European Le Mans Series and I look forward to working together with them.”
Algarve Pro Racing Team Principal, Stewart Cox, said: “I’m very happy with our driver line-ups for the 2024-25 Asian Le Mans Series. It’s great to have extended our association with Kriton (Lentoudis), Alex (Quinn) and Olli (Caldwell), all of whom made significant contributions to our 2024 European Le Mans Series campaign with their varying levels of experience.
“I’m particularly pleased to have the opportunity to build on the work we did with Kriton in his rookie LMP2 campaign, because he progressed at a vast rate and impressed us all, and the experience of racing in Asia can only be a good thing for his pace and confidence.”
