After being in discussions with Ricky Capone's LMP2 team since the beginning of the year, Romain Angebeau, Manager of Le Mans-based Funyo Racing, has confirmed the signing of an exclusive distribution contract for Funyo prototypes in the United States of America with Capone Motorsports.

The Funyo SP05 Evo as we know it in Europe will be distributed in the USA from the team’s workshops in Riviera Beach, Florida.

We should find the Le Mans prototype in several American championships, mainly the Prototype Challenge-HSR by Imsa, equipped as in Europe with Michelin-Motorsports tires.

The Funyo SP05 Evo will also be able to compete in other American championships reserved for prototypes such as the PSSA or the East Coast championship FARA.

The car will be unveiled in mid-December in Florida in the presence of the manufacturer Funyo and the Capone Motorsports team.

Several American drivers have already raced in the Sprint Cup by Funyo in Europe in the last 2 seasons including Alex Gaines runner-up in the 2023 Sprint Cup, and Seattle driver Chris Copeland in Endurance.

Ricky Capone CEO of Capone Motorsports

"When Erwan (Barreau) first mentioned Funyo to me, I was quite intrigued to find out there was an entry level sports prototype being built in Le Mans, France and that there was interest in bringing it to North America.  We are extremely excited to introduce the already proven Funyo brand to the North American market.  With our (Capone Motorsports) track record specifically with prototypes and Funyo’s great racing pedigree in Europe we knew this combination would have great synergy!  We would like to thank Funyo Racings, Romain Angebeau & Remy Brouard for giving us this opportunity.  We are looking forward to building the brand and relationship."

"I’m really very happy with this commercial deal with Ricky Capone and his team. I’ve known members of this squad like Erwan Barreau for a long time, who will be actively involved in this project. The excellent results of Capone Motorsports in LMP2 in the IMSA championship speak for themselves. Ricky is a specialist in prototype management. A big thank you also to Chris Ward for his welcome in the HSR Championship in Challenge prototypes from 2025. Thanks to our excellent relations with our historic partner and manufacturer, the Funyos will be distributed on the North American continent equipped with Michelin-Motorsports tires."
