IMSA - Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin GTP, GTD Entries Confirmed for 2025
The Heart of Racing Team will return to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition in 2025 with two entries once again. Only this time it will be one car in the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class and the other in the Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) class.
The all-new Aston Martin Heart of Racing Team No. 23 Aston Martin Valkyrie has been confirmed to compete in GTP in the upcoming season, as well as the Heart of Racing Team’s No. 27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 in GTD. Driver lineups for both cars will be announced later.
The confirmations extend the Heart of Racing Team’s partnership with Aston Martin after competing solely with the brand in GT3 machinery since entering the WeatherTech Championship in 2020.
As the 2024 season comes to a close this weekend with the Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, the team’s focus remains on its two Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) entries. The No. 23 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 is second in the GTD PRO standings, 99 points from the lead.
“We are excited to see what the 2025 season holds,” team principal Ian James said. “It’s a bit crazy to look back and see where we started versus where we are currently. We ultimately decided on a GTD entry as it complements our all-pro GTP program and serves as a useful rung on the ladder. This week, though, we are set on chasing the GTD PRO championship with the No. 23 team. Once the season ends, we will put our full focus on 2025.”
