The 2024 International GT Open has an eleventh different poleman : Vincent Abril. The Frenchman, at the wheel of the Spirit of Race Ferrari shared with Nicola Marinangeli, posted a sensational time of 1.38.730, a time that, pending a final check, is the new GT3 lap record of the track. Abril was logically very happy with the achievement:

“At last! We have been very close to pole in previous rounds but we kept believing and working hard. Here we turned things around a bit but we felt very comfortable, both in race pace and tyre runs. This was one of the best laps of my life, we were able to extract the maximum on new tyres, so I’m very happy for me, Nicola and the team, which is like a second family to me.”

Behind Abril are the two top title contenders, with Christopher Haase (Eastalent Racing Audi, +0s364) sharing first row and the Oregon Team Lambo of Jordan Pepper and current points leader Alessio Deledda (+0s753) in row 2 together with the Motopark Mercedes of Maro Siebert (+0s810). Third row is for the other Motopark car of Julian Hanses (+0s954) and the Car Collection Porsche of Alex Fontana (+1s052), the fastest in Pro-Am.

Heiko Neumann (Motopark Mercedes) took a great pole in Am, while last on the grid will be the Oregon Lambo of Alberto Di Folco, which suffered engine problems. The team is trying to change it for the race.
