FP2: Final Preparations for the First Ever Qualifying Session in Mugello Completed
At the chequered flag it was the no9 Iron Lynx-Proton Oreca at the head of the field with Matteo Cairoli setting a 1m33.803 lap, 0.424s ahead of the no65 Panis Racing and 0.896s ahead of the no24 Nielsen Racing Oreca in third place, which was also the fastest of the eight LMP2 Pro/Am entries after Nick Yelloly set a 1m34.699 lap time.
LMP2 Championship leaders AO by TF finished in 17th overall, with LMP2 Pro/Am championship leaders AF Corse in 19th overall and 6th in class.
The top LMP3 car was the no8 Team Virage Ligier, with Gillian Henrion posting a 1m44.215, who was over half a second ahead of the second fastest LMP3 entry, the no12 WTM by Rinaldi Racing Duqueine, with the best lap of 1m44.793 by Leo Weiss.
Championship leaders Eurointernational, with Adam Ali posting a 1m44.882, were third fastest and just 0.051s ahead of their nearest championship rivals RLR MSport, the no15 Ligier finishing in 4th.
It was another good session for Ferrari on their home track, with the no55 Spirit of Race 296 taking the top spot thanks to David Perel’s best lap of 1m46.903.It was another Italian manufacturer in second spot, the no63 Iron Lynx Lamborghini with a 1m47.264 set by Andrea Caldarelli, with the no57 Kessel Racing Ferrari of Daniel Serra in third just 0.002s behind the Lamborghini.
Qualifying will take place this afternoon, starting with LMGT3 at 14h10 CEST.
