Gabby Chaves will join Racers Edge Motorsports full season drivers Luca Mars and Zach Veach in the No. 93 Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 for the Indianapolis 8 Hour finale of the 2024 Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Chaves brings an extensive resume to the team, with over ten years’ experience in sportscar racing in both GT3 and prototype machinery. He most recently competed in the IMSA WeatherTech series six-hour endurance race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, so can immediately jump into the NSX with fresh exposure to the track. As an open wheel veteran, Chaves has four Indianapolis 500 starts under his belt, in as many years in IndyCar, three of those with the Honda marque.

“I’m stoked to be joining Racers Edge Motorsports for the Indy 8 Hour. It’s a race I have been wanting to run for a few years now, and when I got the call about racing with the team, I didn’t hesitate,” said Chaves. “I’m excited to work and drive with my longtime friend and competitor Zach (Veach) and will give my best effort to help deliver a strong result for the team and all the partners involved in this race.”

Teammates Luca Mars and Zach Veach carry the momentum from a streak of podiums into the GT World Challenge America season finale. In the last five of six races, the duo has finished top three or higher in the Pro class, with their best result of the season coming at Road America, taking the checkered flag in second place. Both drivers delivered an exciting ending to their respective stints at Barber Motorsports Park, each making passes for a podium position with less than five minutes remaining in the race. Veach and Mars together have earned seven podiums this season and are looking to cap their partnership with a win at Indy.

Veach and Mars both have experience at the Racing Capital of The World, although not quite to the extent of this into-the-night spectacle. “I've never driven this racetrack at night,” said Veach. “Every race I've done there, from the ladder series to IndyCar itself, was always in the day. That’s going to be a new one for me, and you can't really get too many new experiences at a place as historic as Indy. To be able to check that off my bucket list is pretty special.”

Mars completed a session of the 2022 HPD (now HRC) Driver Academy at the world-famous speedway in the Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 with Racers Edge Motorsports. He has also raced GT4 machinery at IMS the past two years, gaining endurance experience in a four-hour battle on the bricks in 2023.

“I’ve done couple of races at Indy, but nothing as long as this one. I’m excited to get out there with Zach and Gabby. We’ve really pushed hard here at the end of the season, and racing the Acura here is going to be a lot of fun.”
