It was a qualifying 2 session dominated by heavy rain this morning at the Red Bull Ring. Conditions haven’t changed much: still cold and wet weather, with the rain becoming heavier throughout the session.

In these conditions, Giacomo Altoè posted the best lap time in 1.39.246. The 2019 GT Open champion is back to the series for this round pairing with Ernst Kirchmayr in the racing one Ferrari, which already shone yesterday taking the Pro-Am win in Race 1.

The Italian said: “It was a difficult session, because of the conditions, but it was important to make a lap at the beginning as conditions worsened progressively.”

The session was indeed interrupted three time to rescue stranded cars. The last red flag was shown after Anthony Bartone (GetSpeed Mercedes) hit the barriers in turn 2 after suffering aquaplaning. Leonardo Pulcini (Oregon Lambo) suffered the same misfortune, going into a number of spins but without hitting anything.

Marcos Siebert put his Motopark Mercedes (now blue-livered) in first row (+0s525), while in row two will be the Audi of Christopher Haase (Eastalent, +0s542) and the Ferrari of Vincent Abril (Spirit of Race, +0s606). In row 3, the McLaren of Dean Macdonald (Greystone GT, +0s726) and the Lambo of Leo Pulcini (Oregon Team, +0s769), while in row 4 will be the Ferrari of Eddie Cheever (Spirit of Race, +0s837) and the Merrcedes of Daan Arrow (Good Speed, +0s946).

Giuseppe Cipriani was the fastest in Am while the ISR Racing Audi of Salaquarda-Libota was withdrawn from the meeting following the damage suffered in yesterday’s race.
