ELMS - FP1: Panis Racing Leads the Way at Spa-Francorchamps.
The first session for the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps was interrupted three times by red flags, with a lengthy stop to repair a section of damaged barrier on the Kemmel Straight after Rahel Frey in the no85 Iron Dames and Bijoy Garg in the no23 United Autosports went off with heavy damage to both cars.Both drivers were OK and released from the medical centre following the standard checks.
While the no65 Panis Racing Oreca set the pace in LMP2, the no37 COOL Racing finished the session in second spot with a lap of 2m02.007 set by Ritomo Miyata, the Japanese drivers time 0.031s ahead of the two Inter Europol Competition Orecas. The no34 car of Luca Ghiotto was third fastest with a 2m02.038, just 0.065s ahead of championship leader Tom Dillmann in the sister no43 Oreca-Gibson.
The LMP2 Pro/Am category was headed by the no 21 United Autosports Oreca-Gibson, with Filipe Albuquerque posting 2m02.294, the sixth fastest time overall. The no83 AF Corse Oreca was second fastest in the class, with Alessio Rovera’s time 2m02.420 good enough for 8th overall, one place ahead of the third placed car, the championship leading no29 Richard Mille by TDS with a 2m02.454 set by Mathias Beche.
LMP3 saw the no17 COOL Racing lead the way with Manuel Espirito Santo on a best lap of 2m11.211, just ahead of the no4 DKR Engineering Duqueine on a 2m11.423 set by Wyatt Brichacek. The no8 Team Virage Ligier of Gillian Henrion was third fastest ahead of the no15 RLR MSport Ligier of Gael Julien.
LMGT3 saw a Ferrari 1-2 at the chequered flag, with the no57 Kessel Racing 296 of Daniel Serra finished on a 2m15.876, 0.209s ahead of the no50 Formula Racing Ferrari of Conrad Laursen.The no60 Proton Competition Porsche was third fastest with a 2m16.430, just 0.054s ahead of the no63 Iron Lynx Lamborghini.
