GT Open - Agostini (Spirit of Race Ferrari) back to the series with pole for Race 2
In his return to the GT Open, Riccardo Agostini took pole ahead of Race 2 at the Paul Ricard, in a much cooler and pleasant day in the French track. The Italian is subbing for Eddie Cheever, who can’t be here because of a calendar clash, in the #27 Spirit of Race Ferrari shared with Marco Pulcini and leading the Pro-Am class.
Agostini posted a time of 2.02.164 and declared: “I’m very happy to be back in the GT Open and this is actually my first pole in the series. It was a good session and we had a perfect car. That allowed me to make my best time before the red flag and the rain”.
The session was indeed red-flagged ten minutes from the end, as the ISR Audi of Filip Salaquarda spun and hit the barriers at the end of the Mistral straight. When it resumed, some rain drops started to fall, freezing the results. Only Deledda (Oregon Lambo) was caught by the track conditions, hitting the barriers with light damage.
Sharing first row with Agostini will be the Eastalent Audi, with Christopher Haase beaten by only 0s059. In row 2 will be two more Pro-A cars, the racing one Ferrari of David Fumanelli (+0s090) and the Car Collection Porsche of Alex Fontana (+0s159), while in third will sit the Olimp Audi of Karol Basz (+0s197) and the SPS Mercedes of Dominik Baumann (+0s390).
Roberto Lacorte (AF Corse Ferrari) signed the pole in Am and will start from P29.
