No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R records third consecutive Hyperpole top four

Cadillac Racing continued its streak of strong qualifying efforts Saturday in advance of the Rolex 6 Hours of Sao Paulo – the fifth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Alex Lynn recorded a best lap of 1 minute, 23.396 seconds in the No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R on the 2.677-mile (4.409 km), 15-turn Autódromo José Carlos Pace circuit to qualifying fourth in the 10-car Hyperpole session. Lynn transferred to Cadillac Racing’s fourth Hyperpole this season by placing sixth in the 19-car qualifying round.

Lynn’s best lap of six in the 10-minute Hyperpole was only .256 of a second off the pole-winning time of the No. 7 Toyota GR010 driven by former Cadillac Racing endurance driver Kamui Kobayashi and .134 of a second from a third consecutive front-row start.

The No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R qualified second at Spa-Francorchamps and at Circuit de la Sarthe for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the past two outings.

Lynn and Earl Bamber will share driving duties Sunday in the six-hour event totaling 36 cars that will run counterclockwise. The forecast is for an ambient temperature high of 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

The WEC returns to Interlagos, which opened in 1940, after a 10-year absence.

Alex Lynn: “It is important to start at the front and we did that. Thanks to Cadillac Racing for giving me a strong car again in qualifying. This car is such a pleasure to drive on low fuel and new tires. A long race tomorrow but we’re in a good spot. We feel confident. It’s a busy small track, tight and twisty so we need to be smart tomorrow and keep our wits about us. But I think we have a strong car to get a good result.”
