TF Sport partners with AO Racing to make Spike the dragon roar at Le Mans

In the first century of its history, the 24 Hours of Le Mans has seen many cars race at the Circuit de la Sarthe, but never a dragon. This statistic is soon to change, though: Spike, the famous purple-and-orange Oreca 07 Gibson, will be fielded in the LMP2 Pro/Am class of the 92nd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

TF Sport will team up with AO Racing, the Chicago-based team with which it already has a partnership in the European Le Mans Series, to seek victory in the LMP2 class in one of the world's most prestigious motor races. At the wheel of Spike the Dragon, which will race with number 14 in the LMP2 Pro/Am class, will be PJ Hyett, Alex Quinn and Louis Delétraz. PJ Hyett - AO Racing Team Owner and Driver - and Alex Quinn have already raced together with Spike in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring, showing skill and speed. Well known to TF Sport, Louis Delétraz is not only the current World Champion of the LMP2 class in the FIA WEC, but he is also one of the drivers of the LMP2 ORLEN Team AO by TF car racing in the European Le Mans Series.

For TF Sport, a team that has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice in the LMGTE-Am class, it will be a return to the LMP2 Pro/Am category: the UK-based team has in fact already entered this class in 2023. Like AO Racing, TF Sport has an unfinished business with the most famous race on the FIA World Endurance Championship calendar, since its LMP2 car was forced to retire last year. Both teams will then hunt for redemption at the Circuit de la Sarthe, where the 92nd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place between 15 and 16 June 2024.

PJ Hyett, AO Racing Team Owner and AO by TF Driver: “Rexy racing at Le Mans for the 100th anniversary was an incredible experience, but we have some unfinished business at the Circuit de la Sarthe. We’re coming back this year with Spike, our LMP2 dragon, to delight fans on the way to the top spot! Allons-y (Let’s go)!”.

Alex Quinn, AO by TF Driver: “I’m really happy to be a part of this team effort for Le Mans. It was a pleasure to race with AO and PJ in Daytona at the start of the season. PJ is really fast, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve. It’ll be great to team up with both Louis and the TF side of the program for the first time and get to work to achieve a strong result at Le Mans. There is clearly only one target and that is to win”.

Louis Delétraz, AO by TF Driver: “I’m very excited to take part in my fifth Le Mans with AO by TF. It’s great to share the car with PJ and Alex. I feel like we have a strong crew between the teams and the drivers’ experiences. Le Mans is a very special event. The prep has started months ago and, of course, we want to do well so the motivation is high!”.

Tom Ferrier, TF Sport Director: “We are hugely excited to bring our partnership with AO racing to Le Mans. It’s such a fantastic event and we have a brilliant line up. PJ is one of the best bronze drivers in the world and with Alex and Louis we have the drivers to back him up. A 24-hour race is always hard but we plan to be there at the end and fighting for the win”.
