Dominik Baumann (SPS Mercedes) will be in pole for Race 2 at Portimão. The Austrian dominated a session that had little story, although gaps remained close, with 12 cars covered by one second and five different brands in the top 10.

Baumann, who shares the car with the talented young South African Mikaeel Pitamber, commented: “It’s nice to be back in business! After a year without racing, SPS called me last minute to race in the last 2023 round at Barcelona and we won. Now comes the pole here, I can’t complain. The car was mega and despite some spots still humid in the straight, we were quick and thanks to a very clean lap, could post the pole. Yesterday in Race 1, we struggled a bit, let’s hope things are smoother today. With the Mercedes, SPS and Mikaeel, we have a fantastic package and the objective is to fight for the championship.”

The SPS Mercedes beat by only 0s065 the Car Collection Porsche of Nico Menzel. In row 2 will be the Al Manar Mercedes of Al Zubair (+0s099) and th Eastalent Audi of Christopher Haase (+0s146). In third row, the Greystone McLaren of Lewis Proctor is joining the party at the top and being the fastest in Pro-Am (+0s248), flanked by the Motopark Mercedes of Marcos Siebert (+0s284), with the three first rows in less than 3 tenths.

Adam Osieka (GetSpeed Mercedes) was the fastest in Am and 13th overall.
