Absolute Racing's inaugural venture with the Ferrari brand, operating under the banner of Absolute Corse, stands out as one compelling reason to follow the premier GT3 car championship in Asia this season. For this landmark debut, Absolute Corse has handpicked two drivers, both fresh names in the Asian motorsport scene, yet each harboring immense potential.

19-year-old Finn Gehrsitz is one of the most promising young German drivers. He transitioned from karting to GT4 in 2020 and competed in LMP3 cars during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, earning a call to participate in the FIA WEC Rookie Test in Bahrain. GT3 racing isn't unfamiliar territory for the Stuttgart native, as he raced in the Asian Le Mans Series and secured a fifth-place finish with race wins in the ADAC GT Masters last season. While both the Fanatec GT Asia and the brand-new Ferrari 296 GT3 car are new experiences for him, Gehrsitz has built a reputation for quickly adapting to new challenges.

With Filipino bronze-rated driver André Canard joining Gehrsitz, Absolute Corse’s Ferrari 296 GT3 will be entered in the new GT3 Silver/Am Class. The team will not only be aiming for victories in its class but also to win overall, as it has proven possible in the past with a Silver/AM driver combination.

The team had a first test with the Ferrari 296 GT3 this week in Sepang, Malaysia. This first outing with the Italian car went well and the team is heading into the new season with the ambition of achieving major results.

The Fanatec GT Asia series kicks off with the first of six events at Sepang (Malaysia) from April 19th to 21st, followed by rounds in Thailand, Japan, and China.

TEAM QUOTES:

Ingo Matter (Absolute Racing, Team Principal): “It’s exciting for us to have two new drivers joining Absolute Corse. While André and Finn are both new to racing in the Ferrari, they will be able to accelerate their learning rapidly with the help of the team. We proved last year with Andrew and James that a Silver/Am combination is capable of winning overall, so I don’t see any reason why we should not be able to aim a good result overall while aiming for as many class wins as possible this year. We can’t wait to get the season underway.”

Finn Gehrsitz (Absolute Corse, Driver): “I'm thrilled to kick off the season and confident in forming a strong combination alongside the experienced team Absolute Racing and the new car. While everything in Asia is quite new for me, I am thoroughly prepared to give it my all. I hope to contribute positively to the team and look forward to showing a strong performance. I am also very excited to announce my new partner, Infini88, which makes all of this possible. Let's have a successful season and kick things off with a strong start in Sepang.”

André Canard (Absolute Corse, Driver): “I am looking forward to a new beginning with Absolute Corse this season in Fanatec GT Asia.”
