Nicolás Varrone's 2024 season took an unexpected turn a fortnight ago, after his IMSA team-mate Anthony Mantella decided to throw in the towel, ending the campaign of the #17 AWA Racing Corvette Z06 GT3.R and, by the same token, that of his Argentinian sidekick.

However, last year's WEC and 24 Hours of Le Mans GTE Am victories with Corvette Racing confirmed Nico Varrone's status as one of the discipline's rising stars, so much so that Cadillac gave him the wheel of its V-Series.R during the Rookie Test in Bahrain.

Requisitioned for the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 15-16) in the AF Corse Oreca 07 alongside François Perrodo and Ben Barnicoat, the Buenos Aires native will also take part in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring two weeks earlier (June 1-2). He is entered in the Ferrari 296 GT3 of the Frikadelli Racing Team which won the 2023 event thanks to Earl Bamber / Nicky Catsburg / David Pittard / Felipe Laser.

It's a car with which he'll be making contact at the end of the week, during the first of the weekend's two races on the Nordschleife. His team-mate for the occasion will be Luca Ludwig. The following day, Felipe Laser and Daniel Keilwitz will take over for the qualifying race of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, where the four men will team up.

It's quite a challenge for Nico Varrone, who has never taken part in the German race before, having passed his 'permit' at the end of 2022. But to speed up his learning process, he will be able to count on rope-mates and a team for whom the green hell holds no secrets...
