More Nordschleife for the premiere of the Nürburgring Endurance Series
The participants' vote has decided: The Nürburgring Endurance Series (NES) kicks off with even more Nordschleife. On Friday and Saturday, 22 and 23 March, teams and racing drivers will be able to test for a full 15 hours in the legendary Green Hell and prepare extensively for the new racing season. The so-called test and set-up sessions will last from 9:00 to 18:00 on Friday (22 March) and will be extended on Saturday (23 March) from 8:00 to 14:00, three hours longer than planned. With free admission and parking, the NES will enable all visitors to experience teams, drivers and racing cars up close in the paddock and along the track on both days. The two 90-minute races on the Grand Prix circuit originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon have been cancelled. The premiere of the Nürburgring Endurance Series is increasingly accompanied by massive discrediting and reprisals against people who are and want to be active for the NES.
Since NES was announced: hostility and pressure massively increased
The Nürburgring Endurance Series (NES) has faced increasing hostility and threats since the announcement of the introduction of this new endurance racing series in spring 2023. Basically organised as a series of four-hour races on the Nordschleife, the NES has already had to change the format for the first event to races on the Grand Prix circuit. This is because volunteer helper groups, stewards, section leaders, officials, external service providers, other stakeholders and even teams and drivers who remain neutral in the performance of their professional duties or predominantly voluntary leisure activities are facing increasingly massive pressure from people claiming to be acting on behalf of and in the name of the VLN/NLS and the ADAC.
While the NES has accepted the challenge of a competitive series from the outset, hostility from various camps is steadily increasing. The NES therefore demands public clarification from all institutions involved that all persons are free to carry out their activities at any event as they wish without having to fear any consequences. For the NES, this is a matter of course. The NES would like to thank all the marshals and section leaders who stand ready to work for the NES despite the threat of consequences.
In focus after the prologue: NES.02 as a four-hour race on 3 and 4 May
The Nürburgring Endurance Series will start for the first time in the 2024 season to redefine endurance racing on the Nordschleife. With new and innovative ideas and concepts, endurance races, which highly significant as major events for the Nürburgring and its entire region, are to be made increasingly attractive and successful again. There are five dates on the NES calendar for this season. After the prologue at the weekend, the focus will be on the first real NES endurance race on 3/4 May on the classic Nordschleife and sprint circuit, driven by the motto "The road is often rocky, but the destination is worth it."
