The collaboration between Cadillac and Ganassi Racing comes to an end
After two seasons running Cadillac V-Series.R cars, the collaboration between the American manufacturer and Chip Ganassi Racing's team is set to come to an end at the end of the year. One Cadillac runs under the Cadillac Racing name in the IMSA GTP class, and one in the WEC Hypercar class.
Since the beginning of the winter, rumours of the end of the collaboration between the two entities have been heard in the various paddocks, and as recently as last January at Daytona. The information, now confirmed by our American colleagues, is now official in the voice of Mike Hull, General Manager of Chip Ganassi Racing.
Since Chip Ganassi Racing's return to endurance racing, the team has scored an IMSA win at Laguna Seca and a seventh-place finish in the Constructors' Championship. The start of the 2024 season is hardly positive for the American side, with a retirement at the 24 Hours of Daytona. On the WEC side, Cadillac remains in fourth place in the championship. The 2024 season began with a podium finish in Qatar with Alex Lynn, Earl Bamber and Sébastien Bourdais. Both Cadillacs will be present at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next June.
What's next? While Chip Ganassi Racing is working to continue in the top class, Cadillac is looking for a new operating team for the WEC. So far, three teams are in the running, including one with experience at the highest level. In the IMSA championship, Whelen Engineering Racing (Action Express Racing) could potentially switch to two V-Series.R. Cadillac Racing may also leave for another operating team.
