IMSA - The BoP for the 12 Hours of Sebring unveiled
A month and a half after a great 24 Hours of Daytona, the IMSA SportsCar Championship competitors meet again next week for the 72nd edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring. And today, the governing bodies unveiled the BoP that will be in force at the former US Air Force training base.
Compared to the 24 Hours of Daytona, the Cadillac has gained 30kg, while the Acura ARX-06, BMW M Hybrid V8 and Porsche 963 have lost 17, 1 and 2kg respectively. On the other hand, the V-Series.R gains 10 kW, while the ARX-06, M Hybrid V8 and 963 lose 8, 8 and 11 kW respectively.
These figures should be treated with extreme caution, since, once again, they depend on the nature of the tracks. It is therefore more logical to compare with the BoP in force last year on the same route. The differences are highlighted in the table below ⬇️.
In GTD / GTD Pro, the published figures clearly suggest that Ferrari and BMW are being penalised as a result of the 'cheating' story they are accused of following the level of performance displayed at the 24 Hours of Daytona, particularly in terms of engine power.
The BoP documents for the 2024 edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring, for GTP as well as for LMP2, GTD Pro and GTD, can be found HERE.
