Inspired by 1995, ready to take on 2024 : McLaren - United Autosports' livery unveiled
Today, McLaren Automotive and United Autosports reveal the Le Mans-inspired livery of the LMGT3 duo contesting the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) – a statement black and papaya design, fitting for the British manufacturer’s return to Le Mans.
“This is a proud moment, unveiling the new look of McLaren on its return to Le Mans and the WEC,” says Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO. “The design has racing heritage at its core, harking back to the 1995 Le Mans winner, while being - unmistakeably - part of the current McLaren family.”
Created by Sean Bull Design, the LMGT3 livery will make its first public on-track appearance at the WEC Prologue next week (24-25th February).
“We are proud to present the 720S GT3 EVO in conjunction with our Racing Partner United Autosports ahead of our WEC debut in Qatar with an exciting driver line-up,” says Michael Leiters, CEO, McLaren Automotive. “Racing is intrinsic to the McLaren brand and the WEC is the perfect arena to demonstrate the performance capabilities of our supercar engineering programmes. We are also pleased to celebrate our victory in the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans with our livery, which is a hugely important part of McLaren history.”
Richard Mille, luxury Swiss watchmaker at the forefront of technical innovation, has prominent branding on both the #59 and #95 entries – race numbers specially selected to honour the Le Mans-winning #59 McLaren in 1995.
The #59 – differentiated by a papaya windscreen header and wing mirrors – will be driven by the competitive line-up of James Cottingham (GB), Gregoire Saucy (CH) and Nicolas Costa (BR).
On the livery, the red logo of DK Engineering – world leading collector car experts - is clearly visible from all angles; while the eye-catching branding of PRIO – Brazil’s largest independent oil and gas production company, which is entering its fourth year of partnership with Nicolas Costa - grabs attention on the nose, back wheel arch, engine cover and rear wing.
On the exciting #95 entry of Marino Sato (JP), Nico Pino (CL) and Josh Caygill (GB) – which features a black windscreen header and wing mirrors – the branding of Quantum Group, official distributor of McLaren, Aston Martin and Lotus in Chile, sweeps across the headlights. And on the lower rear quarter, the logo of Mosso – Argentinian designer and manufacturer of high-end jewellery pieces.
“It’s an exciting addition to the 2024 McLaren line-up,” says Dean, “complimenting the Formula 1, IndyCar and Formula E designs. They look like winning cars, and we have big ambitions.”
