Nico Pino - the 19-year-old Chilean racer who already counts Le Mans and Daytona podiums amongst his accolades – will race in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship with McLaren Automotive and United Autosports.

"When I was eight years old and began racing in go karts, I dreamed of one day being a part of the best teams and championships in the world,” says Pino. “It’s amazing to be joining McLaren Automotive in this new era of GTs in the WEC and I am thankful to United Autosports for giving me this opportunity.”

Following his record-setting 2021 season, when he became the youngest driver to enter the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), Pino has achieved podium places, pole positions and victories across the ELMS (LMP2) and WeatherTech IMSA Sportscar Championship (LMP3).

In November 2023, he was announced as part of United Autosports’ exciting LMP2 line-up for the 2024 IMSA series and, on his team debut last month at the Rolex 24 at Daytona with Ben Keating, Ben Hanley and Pato O’Ward, Pino took the lead of the iconic American endurance race for the #2 crew just after the one hour mark.

“Nico has already proven himself as a strong addition to the United Autosports team in IMSA, so it is great to reveal his name as part of our WEC campaign with McLaren Automotive,” says Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO. “He is a fast, adaptable driver who has tasted success at the biggest endurance races in the world. I am really looking forward to seeing him take on the LMGT3 challenge.”

Pino will join 2023 ELMS LMP2 Pro vice-champion Marino Sato in the #95 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO with one other driver who will be announced imminently.

“This is another step in my development as a driver, learning from the best. I hope it will have a big impact in Latin America and Chile!” says Pino. “This will be my debut in GTs and a challenging year with IMSA, WEC and ELMS but I’m really looking forward to working alongside Marino [Sato]."
