Last November, we revealed that only Earl Bamber and Alex Lynn would contest the entire 2024 World Endurance Championship season in the N°2 Cadillac V-Series.R. This information was confirmed by Cadillac Racing yesterday in the paddock of the Daytona International Speedway.

Cadillac has not ruled out the possibility of running the New Zealander and his British sidekick as a duo in the six-hour races. It's allowed and in no way harmful.  Whatever happens, there are two clashes of dates between the WEC and IMSA: Long Beach / Imola and Laguna Seca / Spa, so none of the titular Cadillac drivers on the other side of the Atlantic will be able to contest the Italian and Belgian rounds of the World Endurance Championship.   It would therefore come as no surprise to see Bamber and Lynn alone on these occasions. Especially as Scott Dixon and Tom Blomqvist will also be competing in IndyCar.

But for sure they will need another teammate for the 1812 km of Qatar, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 8 Hours of Bahrain. That support will come from within the General Motors fold, and it's a safe bet that it won't always be the same person.

Jack Aitken, Sébastien Bourdais, Pipo Derani and Renger van der Zande are all potential candidates, as does Alexander Sims, an official GM driver who knows the V-Series well. By proceeding in this way, the American team is keeping a place vacant for Sébastien Bourdais at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the event of the committee not selecting the yellow Cadillac. Should this happen, Bourdais would have to switch to the blue car, whose place at the start is guaranteed by its year-round presence in the WEC.
