Alexandre Imperatori joins Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific as Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Series Manager

Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will be entering its 21st season in 2024, with the campaign opening at the Shanghai International Circuit, where it will support the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix on 20-21 April.

An accomplished racer, Imperatori has been with PCCA Organisation since 2016 as one of the coaches for the series’ Talent Pool programme. The Swiss driver previously raced in the championship, taking the title back in 2012. Other career highlights include a trio of Macau GT Cup podium finishes, third place at the 2015 24 Hours of Nürburgring and a repeat of that result at the 2022 Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Imperatori will be supported in his new role by One-Make Series Senior Manager Boya Qi in preparation for the new season, with Qi to shift her focus to co-ordinating other One-Make championships in the region. These include Porsche Sprint Challenge China, part of Porsche Sports Cup China, Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand and the new Porsche Sprint Challenge Indonesia, which is currently enjoying its inaugural campaign.

After the curtain-raiser in Shanghai, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia then travels to Suzuka in Japan, before two stops in Thailand, firstly at Chang International Circuit before a return to the coastal Bangsaen Street Circuit. A trip to Sepang in Malaysia follows ahead of a second event on the F1 support card, this time at Singapore’s stunning Marina Bay Circuit. Finally, the season comes to an end at the same place it started, in Shanghai in October, together with the Porsche Sports Cup China for the traditional season finale. For the first time in the series’ history, an invitational Endurance Championship will take place as part of two events on the existing calendar – Sepang and the Shanghai finale.

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific is gearing up for a busy year of racing, with on-track action already underway following last weekend’s Porsche Sprint Challenge Indonesia event. That championship comes to a conclusion at the end of the month, before Round 3-5 of the 2023/24 Asian Le Mans Series in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the first two weeks of February. The following weekend sees the 2024 Bathurst 12 Hour taking place at Mount Panorama on 16-18 February.
