A few days ago, Alessio Picariello confirmed that he had decided to extend his adventure with Porsche, despite a recent test with a Nissan Z GT500 in Super GT. The 30-year-old Belgian, who also said that he was in contact with Iron Lynx about a Lamborghini contract.

While the full details of his programme have yet to be determined, Porsche has reached an agreement with Proton Competition for the 2020 and 2023 ELMS - GTE champion (already with Proton Competition) to take place in a 953 entered by the German team in 2024. Picariello confirmed this yesterday evening at the Palais du Heysel in Brussels, during the 2023 RACB Awards.

Picariello, on the other hand, left it a mystery as to which championship he would be drafted into. But according to our information, the balance is tipped more towards IMSA than WEC, with - at least - the Endurance Cup rounds, namely the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 6 Hours of the Glen, The Battle On The Bricks (Indianapolis) and Petit Le Mans (Road Atlanta).

For the time being, only Gianmaria Bruni has been officially announced on this car. The Italian is expected to contest the entire forthcoming campaign. Neel Jani, who is expected to defend the team's interests in the WEC, will play the role of luxury reinforcement in a selection of races, such as the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Finally, a request for an invitation to the 92nd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (15-16 June) should also be in the pipeline. But places will be hard to come by, and it's unfortunately hard to believe that the Ried brothers' second 963 will be selected by the Selection Committee.
