Here is a pair of drivers to set the pulse of any DTM fan racing in the run-up to Christmas. Shortly before the celebrations begin, Munich-based SSR Performance has announced that it will line up with Italian Mirko Bortolotti and Denmark’s Nicki Thiim in the 2024 DTM season. The team will run two Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2. Bortolotti finished runner-up in this year’s championship together with SSR Performance.

He won three races – the same number as eventual champion Thomas Preining (Manthey EMA). Bortolotti’s new team-mate Thiim also comes into the series with a fine reputation. Together with Aston Martin he won the GTE-Pro class of the FIA World Endurance Championship twice and has also made a name for himself on the GT3 scene.

Thiim is following in the footsteps of his father Kurt, who won the DTM in 1986 and can look back on a long and successful motorsport career in various different series. The German public loves “Team Thiim”. With his red beard and typical Scandinavian looks, Thiim grew up in Germany and has lived in the North Rhine-Westphalia region for a long time.

“I am thrilled with this strong driver line-up! We want to challenge for the title and win the Team championship with Mirko and Nicki next season,” says SSR Performance team owner Stefan Schlund.
