F4 SEA / Sepang - First single-seater victory for Doriane Pin!
This winter, Iron Dames decided to launch Doriane Pin in the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship, with the aim of preparing her for a possible career in single-seaters. It was a tall order, but the young Frenchwoman rose to it.
And with good reason: she was the most prolific driver of the whole field in terms of results this weekend in Sepang. Third in the first two qualifying sessions, she finished third in the first race yesterday, before gaining a place in the second this morning.
But Doriane couldn't stop there and was determined to make her mark. Relying on a Prema Racing team whose interests she defended this year in the WEC's LMP2 category, she quite simply won the final round of the championship!
Doriane finished 5''3 and 7''0 ahead of Karin Daryanani (Pinnacle Motorsport) and Peter Bouzelinos (AGI Sport) respectively. She also boasted the third fastest lap of the race behind team-mates Rashid Al Dhaheri and Kean Nakamura-Berta. She also finished second in the championship despite missing three races, with 82 points to the champion's 130: Jack Beeton, 2nd, 3rd and 5th this weekend in Sepang.
It now remains to be seen what 2024 has in store for her, but from the information we have, there's a good chance Doriane will be doing a double programme of single-seater and endurance racing.
