Lilou Wadoux takes on Super GT
Yes, many of you will be disappointed not to see Lilou Wadoux in the WEC next year. But we told you that she would have a great programme and we weren't lying to you. A fortnight after being announced at the start of the 62nd edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona (27-28 January) in an Oreca 07 entered by AF Corse, the 22-year-old Frenchwoman can now officially talk about a second programme: Super GT.
Next year, the winner of the 2023 6 Hours of Spa in GTE Am will contest the entire Japanese championship in the GT300 category, at the wheel of a Ferrari 296 GT3 entered by Ponos Racing and equipped with Michelin tyres. At her side, she will be able to count on 36-year-old Japanese driver Kei Cozzolino, who will not be short of advice.
As well as an extremely rewarding adventure on a personal level, Lilou is being offered a unique opportunity to continue to grow and mature as a driver in an ultra-professional championship. It's a daunting task, as she'll be discovering new circuits (apart from Fuji Speedway) and new championship, but the Frenchwoman loves a challenge and is well up to it, as demonstrated by her astonishing performance at the wheel of the Ferrari 499P during the Rookie Test in Bahrain earlier this month.
Above all, there are numerous examples of European drivers who have seen their careers transformed after a spell in Japan, such as Benoît Tréluyer, André Lotterer, Loïc Duval and Frédéric Makowiecki, to name but a few. First race on April 14, in Okayama.
