On the weekend of 8th - 10th December, the Gulf 12 Hours at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi will be contested as the 2023 Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli season finale. In total, seven Mercedes-AMG GT3s will be competing in the endurance race, including three Mercedes-AMG Performance cars.

The #14 Mercedes-AMG GT3 fielded by Mercedes-AMG Team 2 Seas will have three Performance drivers in the shape of Maximilian Götz (GER), Jules Gounon (AND) and Fabian Schiller (GER). Jules Gounon goes into the finale as leader in the IGTC drivers’ standings, eight points ahead of his nearest rival.

“I am very happy to be able to be racing for 2 Seas Motorsport in Abu Dhabi,” said the 28-year-old. “I know the team well, as we raced together in British GT this year. We were able to rack up a race win, several more podium results and a pole position. We had many highs and also a few lows, but we always worked together well as a team, with the result that 2 Seas Motorsport won the team championship. I am really looking forward to being able to race together with my team-mates and friends Maximilian Götz and Fabian Schiller. Of course, I hope that we will do a good job and remain in contention for the championship.”

Luca Stolz (GER) goes into the finale 18 points adrift, and only an outright victory will keep his title chances alive. In the manufacturers’ standings, Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing is in second place, nine points behind the leader.

The two other Performance cars will be fielded by Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM. The number 999 car will have Maro Engel (GER), Mikaël Grenier (CAN) and Luca Stolz as another trio of Mercedes-AMG Performance drivers. The #77 Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be driven by Lucas Auer (AUT), Frank Bird (GBR) and Lorenzo Ferrari (ITA). The Brit and the Italian had earned their opportunity to compete in the Gulf 12 Hours during the official Mercedes-AMG Young Driver Test at Valencia.

The three Performance cars (all Pro) as well as the #75 of SunEnergy1 Racing (Pro-Am) are eligible to score points in the Intercontinental GT Challenge. Further Mercedes-AMG GT3s will be fielded by 2 Seas Motorsport, 7TSix and MP Racing. The race gets underway on Sunday 10th December at 7am CET (6am GMT).
