Lamborghini Iron Lynx steps closer to 2024 debut
With today’s reveal of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship entry list, Lamborghini Iron Lynx continues to step towards its 2024 debut, which will feature entries in both WEC and IMSA. As it prepares to field the brand-new Lamborghini SC63 LMDh race car, the team keeps pushing forward in preparation for its 2024 programme.
The FIA World Endurance Championship operation will be featuring the Lamborghini Squadra Corse Factory pairing of Mirko Bortolotti and Daniil Kvyat. The 33-year-old Italian has been driving Lamborghini race cars since 2014, in an incredibly successful partnership that delivered at all levels of GT racing. It will be fitting for him to spearhead the new endeavour as Lamborghini opens a new chapter of its competitive history.
Kvyat, a 29-year-old veteran of 110 Formula One starts, joined the Lamborghini Squadra Corse Factory Driver pool earlier this year and recently completed his maiden WEC run with PREMA Racing in the LMP2 class. He scored a podium finish in the 1000 Miles of Sebring this year, adding up to a career filled with remarkable accomplishments.
The two WEC racers will be partnered in the Lamborghini Iron Lynx roster by another long-time Lamborghini driver, Andrea Caldarelli. The Italian will compete in the 2024 Michelin Endurance Cup, encompassing the endurance events of the IMSA WeatherTech Championship.
Bortolotti, Caldarelli, and Kvyat carried out an instrumental role in the new car's developmental process. As the Lamborghini SC63 LMDh prototype is set to hit the track to begin its American testing programme, it will also run for the first time in an official and collective setting, joining the IMSA pack at Daytona in early December.
Iron Lynx Team Principal and CEO, Andrea Piccini, said: “Today’s announcement is particularly significant. Having the first names allocated to our roster brings us closer to our 2024 debut, and marks a new phase in the development of this project. We already worked with Mirko, Daniil, and Andrea this year, and we were impressed by their skills, experience, and professionalism. I cannot wait to reveal our full line-ups and see where the future will bring us.”
