Swiss single seater star Grégoire Saucy is set for a new challenge in 2024, signing for a hotly-contested seat in the new McLaren Automotive and United Autosports LMGT3 programme, subject to confirmation of entries by the ACO.

“I am so excited to join McLaren and United Autosports,” says Saucy, “making my debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship and taking on the challenge of the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO.”

Grégoire started karting at three years old, but it wasn’t until he was 16 that he moved to single seaters. He has achieved several victories and podiums in his career, took the title of Formula Regional European champion after dominating the 2021 season, and celebrated numerous podiums in the ultra-competitive FIA Formula 3 series in 2022 and 2023.

Now, with his experience in single seaters, Formula Regional and FIA Formula 3, the 23-year-old driver is preparing for his professional sportscar debut.

“We are delighted to have Grégoire join our WEC programme,” says Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO. “He has been very impressive and is a proven winner in some of the toughest championships in Europe. This is a big move for him to change from single seaters to sportscar, but he has impressed the team with his focus and determination and it is clear he will do what it takes to be successful in the WEC.”

What is Saucy most excited about on his debut season? “It has to be my first experience at the 24 Hours of Le Mans … it’s such a special race,” says Saucy.  “I’m also looking forward to discovering the other tracks which are new to me like Qatar, Sao Paolo, COTA and Fuji. I love arriving at new tracks and working them out.”
