W&S Motorsport sets course for the future and announces programme for 2024
Just a few weeks after the successful conclusion of the season with the team championship win in the ADAC GT4 Germany, W&S Motorsport is setting the course for the 2024 season. The team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas is relying on consistency and will continue to focus on the core areas of GT4 and the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in the coming year. "We will be competing again in the ADAC GT4 Germany, GT4 European Series, Nürburgring Endurance Series and GTC Race in 2024," announced Team Principal Daniel Schellhaas.
"In recent years, we have laid the foundations for success in these series and will continue to focus on GT4 and the Nordschleife in the future. Thanks to our newly created structures and services, we offer our racing drivers an all-round package that enables optimum race preparation and is the key to success," he adds.
As in 2023, the racing team from Ofterdingen plans to enter at least three Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport in the ADAC GT4 Germany. At least three Porsches will also be entered in the GT4 European Series in 2024. "We want to fight for all championship titles in all classes again in the ADAC GT4 Germany and defend our team title. In the GT4 European Series, our goal is to compete for victories and the championship in the Silver and Pro-Am classes with strong driver pairings," says Schellhaas.
For race preparation, the drivers have access to the in-house race simulator at the team headquarters and the ideal set-ups are drawn up together with the race engineers even before they head to the race track. There, the optimum strategies are developed during the test and race events in the specially equipped race trailer with up to twelve workstations for data and video analysis. The drivers were already able to benefit from the added value offered by W&S Motorsport in 2023. The team plans to further expand this service in a newly created driver academy in combination with fitness and media workshops and to support young drivers even more specifically on their way to becoming professional racing drivers.
W&S Motorsport also has a broad network and extensive contacts with other teams in higher-class racing series such as GT3. This means that juniors can gain their first experience in a GT4 car after karting and recommend themselves for a GT3 cockpit through good training. W&S Motorsport not only offers a GT4 racing cockpit, but can also act as an interface to other teams to help them make the step to becoming a professional driver and one day establish themselves as a works driver.
Participation in the GTC Race as a substructure for the ADAC GT4 Germany and GT4 European Series is also an important part of the further development of junior and amateur drivers, where they are prepared for higher racing series and can familiarise themselves with the vehicle and the team's working approach. W&S Motorsport is also planning to field at least one Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport and would like to share its expertise with newcomers and career changers.
The team of Patrick Wagner and Daniel Schellhaas is a true Porsche Cayman expert and currently the most successful Porsche GT4 team. In eleven out of twelve ADAC GT4 Germany 2023 races, the fastest Porsche in the field came from the ranks of W&S Motorsport. At Hockenheim, the team from Swabia is almost unbeaten with three out of four possible overall victories in the ADAC GT4 Germany and GT4 European Series 2023.
"We are specialised in the use of Porsche Caymans and know the cars inside out. That's part of the secret of our success," says Team Principal Patrick Wagner. "We currently have six Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, which we prepare in our workshop in Ofterdingen for racing in national and international championships. In addition, there are the GT4 cars for the Nordschleife and our Porsche 992 GT3 Cup as the spearhead. All the cars want to be driven and we want to go on the hunt for titles in all series."
W&S Motorsport will also continue its involvement in the Nürburgring Endurance Series and will compete in the Cup2 and Cup3 classes of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring with a total of four cars. There are also plans to enter a race car in the SP10 class.
"We are not aiming to move to higher classes, but would like to continue our already high and professional level in GT4 and make adjustments if necessary in order to have in 2024 the most successful season since W&S Motorsport was founded. We know we have a strong team of mechanics, engineers, management and partners behind us and everyone works with heart and soul with the same motto: 'We want to win!' That's why we were able to finalise our programme early on and negotiations with interested drivers are also underway. Our aim is to put together promising packages in all racing series in order to be at the top in the end," concludes Daniel Schellhaas.
