Vector Sport is planning to expand its field of operations for 2024 and confirms today that it intends to register an entry for the 6-round European Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 category.

The British team’s current ORECA 07-Gibson, which it has raced in LMP2 in the FIA World Endurance Championship for the last two seasons, will no longer eligible for the WEC (Le Mans excepted) as the category has been withdrawn.

The new ELMS programme is intended to be run alongside Vector Sport’s collaboration with Isotta Fraschini and the all-new Tipo 6 Competizione hypercar.  The Italian-built car is currently being tested and developed ready for homologation, and will then be passed to Vector Sport for an intensive race-ready testing programme ahead of the 2024 season, subject to confirmation of entry.

Team Principal, Gary Holland, explained more about the team’s expansion for 2024. “We have learned so much about the LMP2 car and class and it makes a lot of sense to us to capitalise on that experience, and the performances we have shown on the world stage, into ELMS and hopefully a return to Le Mans in LMP2. We’ve closely watched the ELMS grow and flourish to the incredibly strong position it is now in, and it’s the perfect home for LMP2.

“We have the car, personnel, expertise and capacity to do ELMS alongside the WEC hypercar entry – providing we are fortunate enough to receive entries for both – and we believe these two programmes would complement each other extremely well as we move forward. We are continually looking forward and this is a very logical step, staying within the ACO framework that is so well known to us.

“It’s too early to talk about drivers for either programme but line ups will be confirmed as soon as possible.”
