No, the 2023 season of the European Le Mans Series is not over. After today's 4 Hours of the Algarve, it's on to Sunday's 4 Hours of Portimao. But in LMP3, the title is already up for grabs following the setbacks encountered by Inter Europol Competition.

The #13 Ligier JS P320 of Miguel Cristóvão / Kai Askey / Wyatt Brichacek was the victim of a fire and didn't see the finish line. It was a pity, as it was thanks to this car that the Polish team was second in the overall standings, albeit 46 points behind as they headed for Portugal.   The #17 Ligier JS P320 of Adrien Chila / Marcos Siebert / Alejandro Garcia, although only fourth today, scored 12 points which were more than enough to clinch the title even before Sunday's race. The Swiss team has now been awarded its first invitation to the 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours, to be used in the LMP2 category.

INVITATIONS TO THE 2024 24 HOURS OF LE MANS TO DATE :

  • LM GT3: Pure Rxcing - Porsche 911 GT3 R type 992 (GT World Challenge Europe - Bronze Cup champion)
  • LM GT3: Brendan Iribe - McLaren 720 S GT3 / Inception Racing (IMSA Bob Akin Award winner)
  • LMP2: George Kurtz - Oreca 07 / Crowdstrike Racing by APR (winner Jim Trueman Award in IMSA)
  • LMP2: Cool Racing / Oreca 07 (ELMS champion in LMP3)
